Our conference theme this year is
“Inspiring Excellence in Academics and
Ethics.”
Dr. Thomas Lickona will be our keynote speaker this
year. Dr. Lickona is a developmental psychologist and Professor of Childhood/Early
Childhood Education at the State University of New York at Cortland,
where he directs the Center for the 4th and 5th Rs (Respect and Responsibility)
and co-directs the Smart & Good Schools Initiative with Matthew
Davidson of the Institute for Excellence & Ethics.
His books on character development include Moral Development
and Behavior; Raising Good Children; Educating for Character; Sex, Love
& You: Making the Right Decision; Character Matters; and, with Matthew
Davidson, Character Quotations and Smart & Good High Schools.
Educating for Character won a Christopher Award for
“affirming the highest values of the human spirit.” The
Journal of Research in Character Education praised Smart & Good
High Schools as “a brilliant blend of research, conceptual clarity,
and real-world practices.”

CEP is very excited about this year’s National Forum on Character
Education. Not only will you hear four outstanding keynote speakers
and participate in more than 70 great break-out sessions, you can earn
college credit to help with teacher recertification.
